About artist:
Alojzy Balcerzak was born in the village of Zdwórz. In 1950 takes entering exams to The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The first attempt proved to be unsuccessful. In 1951 he starts his studies in the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the Division of Painting, under the direction of Professor Stanisław Czajkowski and Professor Kazimierz Tomorowicz. In 1954 Balcerzak moved to the Studio of Illustration and Book in the Division of Graphics. The Studio was ran by Professor Jan Marcin Szancer, under whose direction Balcerzak got his diploma in 1957.
Balcerzak designs post stamps. In 1991 he opened a Gallery at Koszelówka. It become an important cultural and social event. It received immense press attention, many reviews, comments and interviews with founder of that extraordinary centre were published. In 1996 he had his individual exhibition in SD Gallery. In the 1998/1999 academic year, he starts work in the European Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the Division of Graphics (he teaches painting and drawing).
He participated in many exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
