Born in 1961 in Częstochowa. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of The Teachers' University in Częstochowa.
As a person who avoid artistic contests Tomasz Sętowski decided to direct his fairy-tales to the best critics - the public. His works received an enthusiastic reception of both the public and critics.
For years critics could not clasify Sętowki's to a particular kind of painting. In 1999, at the Art Fair in Gent, Belgium, his paintings were recognized as "magic realism". He is most probably the only Pole representing this kind of art.
Sętowski belongs to the group of distinguished Polish contemporary artists such as Beksiński, Starowieyski, Maciejewski, Fałat, Berenicki, Michalik.
Since 1988 he has taken part in many individual and collective exhibitions in Poland, Germany, France, the United States of America, Italy and Austria. He took part in Arts Fair in Sweden, Switzerland, the USA and Belgium.
